Dreams in Blue

Each year these blossoming blue fields attract thousands of tourists. Hitachi Park is located in the Ibaraki Prefecture on Honsyu in Japan. Its a beautiful spectacle during the flowering of the nemophila. Nemophilas are annual flowers. The word is a combination of the Greek words “nemos” (small forest) and “phileo” (love). The Japanese word “hitachi” translates to dawn. Taken together: “small forest love in dawn.” A blue heaven on Earth.

Yes, definitely. And though I so much love fiction and narrative media like movies and shows, sometimes I find myself disappointed— by overused tropes, poorly done research, flat characters and a lack of a theme… Just bad stories, or bad storytelling. It’s discouraging sometimes! Speaking of stories.. :P What’s this 30 day Harry Potter challenge? Can I join in? It looks like fun!

Haha, yes, West Coast it can be super cold (glacial melt from Alaska, ahoy!). It’s probably better not to go past your knees, especially since sneaker waves can take you by surprise. Hopefully you can go back soon! :D I so much miss the ocean. Hawaii was very neat, definitely recommend visiting it and seeing it. It was much more fun as a tourist, though, than a “local.” Also, the Mediterranean is so gloriously beautiful. *_*

Haha, I was thinking it might happen by accident XD because they are not coordinated; I agree, I don’t think Helios would ever do that on purpose. LOL can you see Mamoru and Helios having words with the ref? lawls. And yes, there is that issue of forgiveness…

Oh, I couldn’t agree more. There’s just not a lot of anything truly wll done or original, and it’s discouraging. :/ Not to mention how much I loath the majority of reality shows. Thank goodness I think that trend is starting to wane- at least I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it’s on the downward spiral but anyway. Hehe, I’ll post the HP Challenge list after this for you so you can do it too. : D

Pfft, I didn’t even think of that, but you’re right, that would explain the chill! XD I definitely would love to go to Hawaii, yes. My mom and I are considering doing a cruise there in the fall. ^^ Excited and nervous, of course, but I think it will be so much fun. Oooh, I envy you being able to see the Mediterranean, would ADORE to go there. Pics, you have? : D

Randomly, you wouldn’t know of any good sources for info on life in ancient Greece, would you? Thinking about story research… wanting to maybe try doing something a little different than my normal stuff but need to know more details and not quite sure where to begin…

Rofl. Ah, well, that would work then. ^^ Helios stops too fast, Mamo goes flying over his head… XD Oh yes, I can see it, and I love it. Hota’s not the type to hold onto her anger if someone has repented and is truly trying to gain forgiveness. :P He can win her over if he tries hard enough.

Yes, yes, it is discouraging. Though sometimes I take this as a sign to turn off the TV and the Kindle and just write. Like if I don’t like it, I should do something about it. I’m sure that sounds arrogant. XD But I’d rather entertain myself than constantly want to throw my remote at the screen or something. And ugh. Yes. I hate “reality” shows, which are scripted and edited. That alone leaves a bad taste in my mouth for ethical reasons. Those shows (and heck, lots of other crap that comes out of Hollywood) absolutely trashes the images of Americans overseas. Like, it really hurts us. People think things in movies are really what it’s like in the US. So I’ll be crossing my fingers with you! D:

That sounds like fun!! Cruises are cool! Unfortunately no, I don’t have pics, since I went with my dad and he’s the shutterbug, he took the pictures. But maybe I can get him to send me some to show you. :)

well, let’s see here… Ancient Greece: http://www.ancient-greece.org/index.html

I’m sure the books you could find through a library. Even if it’s going up to the U and copying things, it’s cheaper than buying them!

Not sure how the much the first link will work for you, though, since you’re on your phone and the internet doesn’t work, right? Should I give you book titles/ISBNs?

Hehehehe…. yes, I imagine she is forgiving. Though I could also imagine the look on his face if she were to refuse at first… hehe. XD I’m evil.

No, I totally agree with you! It’s really true, there are so many things that I wish people had written or made shows of, and if they aren’t doing it, then it’s our job to make it happen. :) And SO agree about that, I mean, is this the kind of image we want to give the world of Americans? And we wonder why others don’t like us or look down on us. It’s just sad. :/

Yeah! I’ve never been on one, so it will be an adventure. XD Ah, no worries! If he can that would be awesome though. It sounds so beautiful there, I’d love to be able to go myself one day. And geek out over everything historical along the way. XD

THANK YOU. <3 Yeah, the link shows up kind of screwy on my phone, but I’ve saved it so I can read it when I have my computer back - hopefully soon!!. The library has one of the books, and it looks like the other is being sold used fairly cheap on Amazon so I might just buy that one. This will be fantastic. ^^ Hehe, well, I DO work at a copier place, so if I need to I might be able to just use the one at work to make copies from the library one. Research is good, yes. Hopefully it will help my writing along. ^^

LOL. That tempts me to have her refuse at first, just to see the kicked puppy face he’d give her.

Yup exactly. And while some come away with the wrong idea, so much of American culture is “cool” in other places, so you see these imitations of it that just… it makes you see it for what it really is. Like here, I see people imitating hip hop culture and thinking this is what normal Americans really do and it’s like… no. No, it’s not, and your imitation is harmful.

Haha yes, it is. We went to Jaffa, which is beautiful, but there’s also a rock there that is said to be the one where Andromeda was tied to be sacrificed to the sea monster and was saved by Perseus. So I think you’d like it!

Awesome ^^ And hehe, yes, I didn’t forget you work at a copier place… though sometimes with university libraries they don’t let you check books out if you aren’t a student, so you have to copy them there. Can’t wait to hear more about your project!

LOL… yes…XD I told Jen of our little evil ideals, and she approves as usual. Mamoru, I am told, is less approving.

*winces* Oh man. That makes me so depressed, knowing that effect this stuff has on other countries and how they try to imitate it. It’s just, ugh. There are no words to describe the frustration.

Oooh. That sounds fabulous! And I’ve always really liked the Andromeda/Perseus myth, I would love to be able to see it for myself some day. ^^ Maybe you’ve already told me and I’ve just forgotten, but have you been to Greece?

Ooooh. Right, I didn’t even think about that. ^^ ;; A couple of people I work with go to the U, maybe I could convince them to check the books out for me. I’d be a bit nervous to go up there by myself admittedly. Though the lure of books might be enough to overcome it! I’ll be sure to let you know how things turn out, hopefully I will be inspired and this will be the right direction to go… we shall see!

And I just have to say, finished Memoirs of Cleopatra today. </3 So wonderful!! I’m going to buy it for my own, ha. I adored it so much, and I was crying at the end, even knowing how it turns out. ^^ ;

*grins* Yay, I’m glad Jen approves! Pfft, whether Mamo approves or not, the plans move forward, he ought to know this by now. :P

I know, it is depressing. :/

Hopefully you will! And no, I’ve not been to Greece. Maybe sometime soon. My next trip is to Amsterdam at the end of this month.

That’s a good idea. Why would you be nervous about going up there? It’s safe and they don’t know the difference between students and regular residents anyway :P It’s really beautiful, actually, you get a great view of the valley.

Awwwww!!! Glad you enjoyed it. I just finished a freakin’ awesome book myself. I was so sad to see it ended until I realized there were two more in the series. It was the best novel I’ve read in quite a while. so I was immensely happy to see there were more!!!

Sorry I didn’t respond to this yesterday, by the time I finished my book it was time for bed and my eyes were watering, I was so tired. I didn’t feel up to writing my own name, much less responding.

Very much so. I try to think of happy things instead. D:

Oh, Amsterdam, that’s so great! That’s where my grandpa was from. He and my dad went back there for a visit when I was young. I wish I could remember more about what he told me about it, but alas. I hope you’ll have fun there, it sounds like it will be awesome!

Hehe, I love that, when you find out there’s more to add onto a book you love. ^^ Always looking for more to devour. ^^ I found a few Cleopatra Selene books that seem promising, but we shall see. I will let you know if they are worth picking up! I appear to be spiraling back into a historical/mythological fiction reading frenzy, yay. ^^

No worries, I know how that feels. ^^ I didn’t even do my daily HP post yesterday I was just too tired so double post today, gah.

So cool! I’ll tell you about it and I’ll have my own camera this time to take pictures :P

And yes, please do let me know how they work out! I need another book tailspin to go into, I’ve already finished the other two books I told you about >_> And this has not helped my sleep schedule. Read, sleep, work, read, eat, read, procrastinate on sleeping, read, sleep, work…

And ugh, yeah, I’ve failed on the challenge after one day >_> Wonder if I can combine-post…

:) Yay! I look forward to it! When will you be going?

*giggles* I’ll be sure to tell you. I’m enjoying Cleopatra’s Daughter so far, about a third of the way through and loving it. Selene’s a fierce girl, I truly enjoy her spirit in this one so I’m hoping it will be this good all the way through! Hehe, I know the feeling. So many books!!! And then I want to reread so many which is fine but I should be balancing it out with new books too … it’s a vicious cycle. Though I suppose I could read Helen of Troy again since it sort of pertains to my recent reading obsession.

Hehe. I’ve failed the past few days. I just did two in one day. ^^ ; This day’s the only one I’ve managed to not do two on so far. It’s making me awfully nostalgic though. I’m going to end up rereading those too at this rate!

End of this month :)

Awesome, glad you’re liking it! It makes me willing to take a second look at it. Was the Helen of Troy book you were talking about a fiction narrative or the actual myth? Do you know if any good books on that one?

Yeah, my Tumblr wasn’t working right the past couple of days. It wouldn’t let me scroll in the text box, so I was typing blind. :/ I didn’t want to risk posting a message of gibberish, so I held off on the challenge and responding to this until it randomly decided to fix itself.

Fun!! ^^ I look forward to hearing about your adventures there.

Well, having finished it I can say that for the most part it was enjoyable. There was a few things that bugged me but overall I’d say it’s definitely worth a read. Oh, yes, the one I’m talking about is by the same lady who wrote Memoirs of Cleopatra, Margaret George, so it’s a fiction narrative. I loved it; I’ve never found another book that really attempts to give a voice to Helen so it was a treat. Sad though, considering the way it ends. T_T So I’d say it’s worth seeing if you’d like it! I enjoyed it, but I’m an odd one sometimes in my taste so I can’t say for sure if it’s for everyone.

Ack, not fun! No worries though, I figured you were busy or something, I knew you’d be back eventually. ^_~

:D And pictures, I have my own camera this time and I’ll be taking them!

Good to know. :) There’s rarely a book nowadays that I find utterly perfect, most have something to irritate me. And that’s good to know too! My mom has both books, I think. Of course, they are half a world away from me at the moment. >_> Though of course I have tons of other books I ought to be reading, that are languishing on the Kindle.
